FC Barcelona, more than a club

“Més que un club” is not just an advertising slogan but the official motto, and it says something real: Barça is a club owned by its socios, deeply linked to Catalan identity, which makes it a unique case among the great institutions of European football.

On the sporting side, the club has more than twenty-five titles of Spanish champion and five Champions Leagues. Its peak remains Pep Guardiola’s team, built around Xavi, Iniesta, and Messi, whose style of play has influenced an entire generation of coaches.

La Masia, the training centre, is another hallmark. Few clubs in the world have trusted their young players as much as Barça does, and this tradition continues to produce first-team players.

The blaugrana, blue and maroon

The home kit of Barça features blue and maroon vertical stripes, giving it its Catalan name of blaugrana. It's one of the most recognizable combinations in world football.

The club has experimented in recent years with designs that strayed from the classic stripes, which was poorly received by some supporters. The return to the traditional vertical stripes was welcomed positively, which says a lot about the attachment to the historical design.

The crest, featuring the Saint George's cross, the Catalan colours, and the ball, has remained almost unchanged for a century.

Home, away, third: which one to choose?

The home kit is the striped blaugrana one, the one that the vast majority of supporters buy, and the one that remains identifiable decades later.

The away kit changes its base every year and often takes unexpected directions. It's the choice of those who already have the home kit.

The third takes the most liberties in design and is released in smaller quantities. It's the one that becomes sought after once sold out.

Supporter version or player version?

The supporter version has a straight cut, looser, made from breathable but soft material. It's the one worn at the stadium and in the street, and the default choice if you're not sure.

The player version, known as authentic, mimics the on-pitch outfit: form-fitting cut, technical fabric, different finishes. It is much more fitted, to the point that it's common to go up a size, sometimes two.

What size Barça shirt to take?

In the supporter version, your usual t-shirt size is fine in most cases, with enough room to wear a layer underneath.

In the player version, count on a size up at the minimum, as these shirts are cut close to the body.

For children, the junior sizes follow age and height in centimetres. It's one of the most gifted shirts to young players, and a size too big often spoils the gift.

Printing: name, number, and badges

The official Liga printing has its own typography, different from that used in the Champions League. This is what distinguishes an official customization from an approximation.

A personalized shirt is no longer exchangeable, so the size should be checked before ordering. And a player's name is a long-term bet, which pushes many buyers towards a blank shirt or a number that has become iconic for the club.

Other Liga clubs

The Spanish championship is not just about Catalonia, and each club has its page:

• The Real Madrid, the Clásico rival, the most-watched fixture in club football.
• The Atlético Madrid, the third major club in the championship.
• The Athletic Bilbao and the Real Sociedad, the two major Basque clubs.
• The Real Betis, the FC Valencia, Villarreal, Getafe, and the Deportivo La Corogne complete the selection.

The other clubs page covers the rest of the league, and the Liga page brings them all together in one place.

Where to find a Barça shirt cheaper

The supporters' shop promos gather the currently discounted kits, while the new arrivals showcase the collections that have just come in.

The clearance sales and good deals run throughout the year on end-of-line items. The sales come during the legal periods.

The Black Friday kicks off the highlights, followed by the end-of-year holidays, winter sales, and the French Days in spring. The best time remains the arrival of the next collection, when the previous one transitions to end-of-line.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between supporter and player jerseys?

The supporter jersey has a straight and comfortable cut, designed for everyday wear. The player jersey mimics the on-pitch kit, with a tight body cut and more technical fabric, making it noticeably more fitted.
